Since we’re having a party next weekend, I need to get one last keg in rotation in case things get out of hand (the last party dropped almost 4 kegs).
Tonight, I’m brewing a beer inspired by Rogue’s Chocolate Stout, a beer that has a wonderful chocolate flavor and is quite drinkable. Here’s my interpretation:
For 5 gallons, 80% efficiency:
6.0 lbs Pilsner malt
0.5 lb Crystal 105
1.0 lb Chocolate malt
1.0 lb Roasted barley
1.0 lb Flaked Oats
Cocoa powder (amount still undecided)
Mash in at 154 degrees for 60 minutes to leave some unfermentables in the wort.
Add 1.75oz of Cascade when boiling starts, and knockout 60 minutes later.
Expected OG: 1.054
IBUs: 44
