You know you’re a huge beer geek when co-workers bring you back beers from their travels abroad. (Thanks, Rich!)
I’ve been holding out for almost 2 months on this one, and can wait no longer. Today’s 5pm treat comes almost 5,000 miles from Ljubljana’s Union Brewery — their stock pilsner.
It drinks very smoothly, starting with a distinct breadiness and finishing crisply. It’s not as hoppy as its Czech relatives, but it’s quite typical of the pilsners brewed in that region of Eastern Europe.
Rich tells me there aren’t many local beers to choose from in “Ljub,” so I guess it’s a good thing that I like this one. Cheers!
