My friend Sean is getting married to Stephenie this weekend! You probably saw the brief recap of the Bachelation weekend we had a few weeks ago, so this isn’t news to you.
Well, the rehearsal dinner is tomorrow night, and it’s going to be a barbecue fest. As the Best Man, I figured I needed to come up with something memorable for this weekend, in case my reception toast falls flat.
Thankfully, I thought about that a few months ago, to give me enough time to prepare my contribution to the festivities — the official Nuptial Ale for the Harp/Davis wedding.

Like this weekend, this beer is very special. A wheat doppelbock brewed in the tradition of Schneider’s Aventinus, this brew has the malt character of a German bock with the fruity yeast esters of a wheat beer. The combination creates a very drinkable beer that cloaks its 8.5% alcohol strength almost too well.
We’ll have to exercise a little restraint tomorrow, as we don’t want to have the ceremony with a hangover (or an ill-fitting tuxedo from all the pork + beer). But with six other beers on tap as well, inlcuding a Schwarzbier, coffee stout, German wheat and Irish Red, it will be a tough task indeed.
