London Pint #4: Young’s Bitter, et al

London Pint #4: Young's Bitter, et al

It looks like Brian is ready for a long night’s rest, but not before pushing down one last Leffe blond.

I am enjoying a Young’s bitter (cask), another delicate ale with some understated hop notes. And on the far side of the frame — Mark is having a Deuchar’s IPA, which he says is very tasty.

We’re done for the night. More tomorrow.

London Pint #3: Courage Director’s Bitter

London Pint #3: Courage Director's Bitter

We’ve progressed from the All One Bar to The Albert for a quick nightcap.

I’m having a Courage Director’s Bitter (from cask) and its fruitiness is nice. The other guys in the drinking party ended up with another Greene’s IPA and a Bombardier bitter.

In case you’re wondering, the second (and undocumented so far) beer was an Old Peckled Hen from cask. It was very subtle, and maybe too much so to avoid being a little bland.

We’re on our way back to the hotel now…perhaps a nightcap awaits there as well.

London Beer #1: Greene King IPA

London Beer #1: Greene King IPA

We’re having a pint after Day 1 of our meeting, and we’re down by the Thames having a pint at All Bar One.

I’m hoisting a Greene King IPA — a hoppy beer (by English standards) with a delicate malt character. It would’ve been better if served on cask, but I’m not at all complaining. The company’s good, as are the beers.

Cheers!

Destination: London

Destination: London

I’m in London for a short business trip, and my hotel is a very short walk from Buckingham Palace.

After a 2 minute walk, I stood in front of the gate pictured here, behind which the changing of the guard happens every day at 1130 am.

As I got there at 1045 and didn’t want to stand around waiting in the heat (it’s already 84 in London now, on its way to 90!), this is what you get. I’ll try harder next time. :)

Feel free to use your imagination for the guard changing bits.
