Post OBF Tasting: McMenamin’s Nebraska Bitter

Post OBF Tasting: McMenamin's Nebraska Bitter

Andrea’s winding down with a cup of coffee before dinner, while I partake a(nother) Nebraska Bitter. This is an English style bitter that has a soft, pleasant floral finish.

Ordinarily, coffee after a beer festival would be considered a wuss-out. Since McMenamin’s roasts their own beans, the coffee is dark and quite good. I’ll give her a hall pass for this one, but we’re drinking if we go to the movie tonight.

OBF Tasting: Rogue’s Brewer

OBF Tasting: Rogue's Brewer

I’m pouring a little for Brewer, the recently departed brewdog and companion of Rogue’s brewmaster. His namesake beer is *hoppy*. Seriously. This “smells like urine” according to Andrea. To me, it’s just loads of citrusy hops, maybe too much for a beautiful summer afternoon.

OBF Tasting: Raccoon Lodge Raspberry Wheat

Quiz: Guess who’s enjoying herself right now?

The beer is tart, but Andrea’s a little sassy right now.

OBFTasting: Mama Likes!

Andrea has found a new favorite beer for today, the aforementioned Watermelon Wheat. It’s also notable that the brewing company is named after the amendment that repealed Prohibition — a fact not lost on our little history teacher.

I’m chillin’ with a farmhouse ale from Jack Terrier Brewing. It’s got a nice malt backbone and a lot of the acidic twang you’d expect from a Belgian ale. Yummy.

OBF Tasting: Flying Fish10th Anniversary Farmhose Summer Ale

OBF Tasting: Flying Fish10th Anniversary Farmhose Summer Ale

Stephen just poured me a tasty saison-style farmhouse ale. (Yes, the sign *does* say “Farmhose”, it’s not my typo).

It’s crisp and slightly sour — which is just fine by me with this weather.

Cheers!
