It’s getting close to dinnertime, and Phil was in charge of making dinner rolls for the meal. His recipe called for, among other things, a 12 ounce beer.
I couldn’t let him use a regular domestic lager. So I poured some “Another Tire” into the batter, and Phil got it ready for the oven.
They’re in the oven now, becoming golden, brown and delicious.

I’m at my father-in-law’s casa for the Jones family holiday celebration, and look what I found in the cupboard.
Straight out of 1983 — a Handy Smurf drinking glass.
While it’s probably not the correct shape for most purist beer drinkers, I think it works just fine for the Shlalfy Coffee Stout (St. Louis) I’m enjoying.
The locally-made coffee that flavors the beer is extracted using a cold-press method, which pulls a lot of flavor out of the beans without all of the bitterness. It adds a deep coffee flavor that finishes with a little bit of astringency. In all, pretty tasty, even when warm.
