We’re sitting at the gate, waiting for our boarding announcement, and revelling in our new-found wealth.

While it looks like we might be high-rolling, this fat pile of yen amounts to about $110. It’s enough to get us from Narita airport to our hotel in Ikebukuro and perhaps a light lunch to boot. I’ll dig through this week’s Economist magazine to see what the Big Mac index says about the relative expense of Tokyo, and report back my findings.
