Or most of the way, anyway. The BTS SkyTrain system only has 15 or so stops in total, so it’s great for navigating the immediate downtown area, and not much else.
Bangkok is also somewhat confusing when it comes to airports. Up until a year ago, Bangkok had 1 airport — Don Muang International. As of a year ago, a newer, larger international airport (Suvarnabhumi) was built on the far east side of town. So all the established public transportaion routes served the other airport. All that to say, it’s still rather cheap to get there. My advice: instead of trying to get as close as you can on mass transit, and then cabbing from there, just get a cab at your hotel. From downtown, it shouldn’t be more that 300 Baht or so, and you’ll stay cool in the air-con cab.
