A proper pint of Pride in London

I’m off in London on a photo shoot this weekend, and thought I’d start it off with a pint at lunch.

The place is The Goat, just across the street from the southern edge of Kensington Gardens. The Goat carries the “Marque de Cask” designation, which in England means you’ll find at least a few beers drawn from cask, via a hand-pumped beer engine. In this case, it’s a local favorite — Fuller’s London Pride.

While this beer tastes OK when imported into the US, it really shines a served on cask. The fruitiness from the yeast comes through and pairs well with the subtle bitterness of the beer. I know some of you don’t care for cask ales (cough *Sean* cough), but this is a wonderful treat to start a trip.

Cheers from London!

Uh, correction… I LOVE cask conditioned Ales. It’s Stephenie that doesn’t care for the “thin & watery” British beers. I’m a big fan.

What are you doing in London by the way?
