We’re out at a horse farm having our quarterly meeting. And, by special request, there are a few kegs of Laughing Ass on hand for the thirsty masses.

Here, Z-Bag (my co-worker Brian) is filling his glass with my Rye Pale Ale. It’s a light ale, accented with flaked rye in the grain bill, and generous amounts of Amarillo hops. It was a worthy accompaniment to the low-country boil we had for lunch.

The other keg is representing with Smoked Porter. This is the dark horse of the event, as most folks are naturally scared of dark beer. 9 of 10 people have given it a thumbs-up, and they are working on killing this keg next.

We’re about to have a hayride. More later.

Patrick, I very much enjoyed the genteel tone in which you communicated how one of your kegs was “representing”. Very, very nice indeed. If I were to bet, I would say that that particular keg probably also kicks it old-school style. Why, it might even lay back in the cut now and then. I might have to lay some tracks down in that regard. May I add that people afraid of dark beer should have their shins rapped smartly with grandpa’s cane.

    With fraternal regard,

(Just drank a new beer and thought of you, so figured I’d check in on Laughing Ass)

Eric — I think everyone knows that kegs indeed “represent,” so long as they have any trace liquid cargo left in their bowels. After that, it’s back to the bench to wait for the next batch of foamy goodness.

What a pleasant surpsrise to hear from you! It’s good to hear that your work hasn’t squeezed any of the life or personality out of you. Just be careful with that shin-rapping business — go a little too high and you’ll be doomed to a Tonya Harding-like ride into the sunset.
