Birthday Beer: Highland Oatmeal Porter

Since it is my birthday today — 34 for those of you playing along at home — it seemed appropriate to ramp up the beer comsumption. Today’s first beer: Highland Oatmeal Porter.

This 10-year old brewery is based in Asheville, NC and known for producing some good ales. The porter was a little thin for my taste in porters, and the oatmeal quality wasn’t very prominent either. That said, it was tasty, as I’ve been taking a 10-day break from beer.

I matched this beer with the Burger and side salad at the Brick Store and it made for a good lunch. (For those of you who haven’t been to the Brick in a while, a new beer menu is coming out today, with some interesting additions.)
