Drinking with a Brazil to discuss Japan

Earlier tonight Andrea and I had dinner with Ben Brazil and his wife Laura (one of Andrea’s peeps from school). Ben is a published travel writer who recently went to Japan — quite timely since we’ll be going there ourselves next week for vacation.

Among other things, he told us about some offbeat neighborhoods (like the one where you can buy plastic foods for your restaurant window display) and the joys of fresh sushi. You’ll hear about the other bits soon enough, during our next trip report.

While Japan will allow me to partake in beers from vending machines (!), what I won’t be enjoying there is the Sweetwater 420 that Ben is hoisting here. It was a nice complement for my shrimp and cheese grits entree at Wahoo! tonight.
