Loks like Mother Nature has some other ideas about my going to Anchorage.
First, there was all the nasty weather in Altanta that started this odyssey (see previous post), and caused me to have to change plans three times.
Then, Mount Augustine, a semi-dormant volcano just south of Anchorage decided to erupt today. Four times. Maybe more by now. The resulting ash is causing serious visibility issues, and some airlines (including Alaska, my carrier of the day) are cancelling flights in and out of Anchorage for the next day or so.
Looks like I’m bunking in Portland tonight.
That’s cool with me though — Portland is a *great* beer town, and will serve a nice proxy for getting to Anchorage.
More later from one of the pubs around town. Cheers!
