The hallowed ground: Abdij St. Sixtus

This morning we are off to West Flanders near the coast. Our first stop is Westvleteren, home of the eponymous beers.

Thankfully, our staton wagon had a GPS unit, which helped greatly in navigating our way to this most remotely located of the Trappist breweries.

Pictured here are the 12 and 6 that are accompanying our lunch today. Michael’s 12 is considered one of the world’s finest beers, while my 6 is a hoppy pale ale with a complex spice profile.
