A final farewell from Austin

A final farewell from Austin

We stomped around the UT campus for our last few hours before heading home.

In the background is the tallest building in Austin (and the site of one of the more infamous killing sprees in Texas history) — the university’s belltower. While we really wanted to explore the Humanities Center, its galleries are closed on Monday. Hence the mug in front of the tower.

In all, this trip was just long enough to scratch the surface of the town, and encourage another trip back. We can see a trip to the Alamo Drafthouse in our future (too tired to tackle it last night), as well a stay at the Austin Motel. For now, we’ll have to leave knowing that Austin is still wierd and has better beer than I expected.

Cheers!

    Patrick,

A recommendation for your next trip to Austin. There is a cheesesteak place that has multiple locations in Austin - http://www.texadelphia.com/austin.asp. I went there during my one and only trip to Austin (senior year of high school). I had never had a cheesesteak before then and I have yet to have one as good since.

Glad you guys had a good time and I am jealous as I thoroughly enjoyed my time down there. Shiner Bock is one of my all-time favorite beers.

One last recommendation - if you haven’t been, I highly recommend a weekend on the Riverwalk in San Antonio. It’s about 45 minutes from Austin and it is wonderful.

    Take care,

    - jason

P.S. No, I haven’t brewed in forever (something about having 4 kids) but I still have my stuff.

Where did you get those cool shades Anri? That seemed like a quick trip! It will be nice to get a little R and R for the rest of the week.

It was quite quick, but we both had some pressing stuff to get back to here in the A (can you say GRE…ugh). We’ll likely take a longer trip this summer once our schedules ease up a bit.
