This is an archive of my trip to Ireland and Belgium. All photos were published to the site in real-time from Atlanta, Dublin, Brussels and points across Belgium using a T-Mobile Treo 600, the Flickr photo service and WordPress software. With this trio of tools (and inexpensive photo email on my T-Mobile plan), real-time web publishing from just about anywhere in the world was a snap.
Enjoy the extended beer-themed postcard!

Yes, it’s true…I am going to Belgium (again).
This time I will be going with Mark and his brother Michael, who has never been to the “Disneyland of Beer.” It should be a great trip, as we will be lucky enough to be there for a local beer festival. My one “have to do” item is to bring back some Westy 12 for the beer cellar. Hopefully the monks will be selling on the day we are in West Flanders.
As always, I will be blogging our trip and If the 55 photos sent from last year’s Prague trip (sent from a less typing-frendly phone) are any indication, this one should be well covered too.

While it might not look that impressively small, this is what I’ve packed for the six day trip.
The thing you can’t see is the 2,800 cubic centimeter internal frame backpack that is packed *inside* the roll-aboard, which takes 20 percent of the inside space.
Of course, the backpack will hold all of my stuff for the return trip easily, allowing the black wheeled bag to be the beer vessel.
Here’s hoping for a whole lot of Westy 12!

A 20 oz. Sam Adams draft, a sawbuck and a handful of change.
I realize that airports can make for a captive audience, but this is completely nutty. In an airport the size of O’Hare, I would think there might be some decent choices to consider.
Not so. In fact, it took me 20 minutes to find a bar that served anything that was not an Anheuser-Busch product, so finding a Sammy was as welcome a sight as I’ve seen around here.

My apologies to the Cowboy Junkies for bastardizing their song title — but I have always enjoyed seeing the sun rise over Europe from the plane window.

This sign stands on the wall next to a narrow driveway that leads into a day care center.
I’m sure this makes perfect sense here in Ireland, but back home I might expect to see this near Oakland Cemetary. Or in Buckhead at 3am on Sunday.
