After a few hours of stomping around the wharf, we made our way over to that other must-see SF landmark.
From a distance at the pier at Crissy Field, the Golden Gate looked smallish. But my parents are enjoying it just the same.
We’re at the airport now, having also taken the driving tours of Lombard Street and the Haight. Our LA flight leaves at midnight Eastern time — it’s about time for bed.
Today is the beginning of a three-day trip to California with my parents, Jack and Rose.
As we could not get a direct flight into Los Angeles, we did the next best thing: fly into San Francisco for the day, then take a late flight into LA. Since this is their first time to Cali, this long layover is a nice bonus prize.
Here, we are mugging in front of the Gharadelli cafe, waiting for our coffees. Mofe SFO in a few.
It’s getting close to dinnertime, and Phil was in charge of making dinner rolls for the meal. His recipe called for, among other things, a 12 ounce beer.
I couldn’t let him use a regular domestic lager. So I poured some “Another Tire” into the batter, and Phil got it ready for the oven.
They’re in the oven now, becoming golden, brown and delicious.
Having a Saturday birthday means you have many more fun options to explore. Today Andrea wanted to satisfy her meat tooth with a trip to Ann’s Snack Bar.
Ann’s is uniquely Atlanta, and has certain things you should know about it before coming, like:
1. She has eight house rules, including no cursing, drinking and smoking in the Snack Bar,
2. You’ll be there almost 2 hours, so don’t have other plans, and
3. Cash only, please!

Thank you for your patience over the past few days. You might’ve noticed that the site has been unreachable, depriving you from your beery voyeurism fix.
Thankfully my webmaster has upgraded the server’s ethernet connection to make the site more stable. He’s also going to work with me to upgrade WordPress, which should make the site more search engine (read: Google) friendly.
Enough of the geekery. Tomorrow night, we make beer (again). I’m thinking about making a beer specifically to enter into the Sam Adams Longshot brewing contest. The style is still TBD, but it’ll have to be a good one to be selected.
