At the Brick Store on a darn hot day-luckily we have 12% beers to cool us off. Alison, Rooney, and I (Mark) are here for the kick-off of the Brick’s 11th anniversary. They’re showcasing interesting limited edition kegs each day.
Today’s are JW Lee’s Lagavulin Wooden Pin Cask (2001), a cask-aged. Ale with some wooden goodness added, and Regenboog t’Smisje Guido, a cask-aged barleywine. Or not-when it gets cask aged and over 12%, you’re getting a lot of wooden overtones with the sweetness and these 2 are hard to tell apart…or they gave us 2 of the same (more likely).
(Update: yes, they were both the barleywine-sweet and woody)
Alison is enjoying a great organic cider-JK Scrumpy’s. Tons of apple goodness which helps when hell is on earth and my brow is dripping on my keyboard.

Retirement party? Hell yeah!
I’ll be there. I’m guessing somewhere in the 5-7pm neighborhood?
